UPDATE: The New Gender Defiant: Coming to You AFTER November 5th

I thought I'd take a week off. It turned into three months.

Little update: I got too ambitious about getting Gender Defiant back up, and it’s going to take a few more days to complete the transformation, no pun intended, ha ha. Also, WHAT WAS I THINKING when I forgot to take into account the seismic and hideous forces in our country that are coming to a head around the election???

Heather Jones, Melody Roth, Heather Jones and I will be opening up shop very soon and with great excitement!

It turns out that writing about trans issues on the daily takes a toll. I got depressed. It turned out that I, as Tina, was writing too much. And so I had to just live for while, as not-Tina, and it was great.

But I didn’t create Tina for nothing. And I still have a trans kid. And things are still totally fucked up out there — don’t get me started with JD Vance!!!! — so it’s not like I can just walk out of this room and never come back!!

That said, things are going to change on Gender Defiant. I can’t survive if Tina writes every day. So I have called upon three writers I know and love who have serious stakes in matters trans, whether if be that their have trans loved ones, or that they are trans themselves.

Gender Defiant will not longer be an entirely Tina Carson outfit. Rather, it will be the cooperative effort of four writers who are in conversation with one another. By putting our powers together, Gender Defiant will be more sustainable, various, varied, and powerful.

We plan to launch the new Gender Defiant on November 1st, and we can’t wait to see you there!
